How Landmark Teaches Expressive Language: Pragmatics

This 2-hour seminar provides information about teaching students with learning disabilities, especially those students who have what is called a pragmatic language disorder.  Many students with learning disabilities struggle with the social use of

language, or "pragmatics." The difficulties are evident both in and outside of the

classroom.  For example, students may have difficulty maintaining a conversational

topic, using language to negotiate or to persuade, understanding and using body

language, and establishing and maintaining friendships.

How Landmark Links Assessment and Instruction

No matter what your role in the field of education might be, assessment--both formal

and informal--plays an important role in how you engage your students, what strategies

you use in the classroom, and ultimately, how well your students can master the material you cover.  This foundation seminar is designed to give you a better understanding of

both formal and informal assessment.
