LD Online features thousands of helpful articles on learning disabilities and ADHD,

monthly columns by noted experts in the field, a free and confidential question and

answer service, active bulletin boards, and a Yellow Pages referral directory of professionals, schools, and products.

 

National / International Associations and Organizations

This section includes the homepages for a variety of associations and organizations

that are dedicated to supporting children with learning disabilities.  These sites also

include online articles about learning disabilities.

Council for Exceptional Children—Division of Learning Disabilities

The Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) is one of 17 special interest groups

of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.

The Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) is an international organization that

promotes effective teaching and research. CLD is composed of professionals who represent diverse disciplines and who are committed to enhance the education and lifespan development of individuals with learning disabilities.

 

International Dyslexia Organization

The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is a non-profit, scientific, and educational organization dedicated to the study and treatment of the learning disability, dyslexia.

IDA focuses its resources in four major areas: information and referral services,

research, advocacy and direct services to professionals in the field of learning

disabilities.

 

International Reading Association

The International Reading Association is a professional organization dedicated to

promoting high levels of literacy for all by improving the quality of reading instruction, disseminating research and information about reading, and encouraging the lifetime

reading habit.

 

Learning Disabilities of America

LDA is the largest non-profit volunteer organization advocating for individuals

with learning disabilities. The membership, composed of individuals with

learning disabilities, family members and concerned professionals, advocates

for the almost three million students of school age with learning disabilities and

for adults affected with learning disabilities.

 

National Association of Parents with Children in Special Education (NAPCSE)

Provides members with the latest special education news, an extensive database,

information, resources, Ask the Experts and The Parents Forum. NAPCSE.org is the

place where parents with children in special education can learn all they need to know

to be their child's best advocate.

National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET)

www.naset.org

A national professional association dedicated to special education teachers,

professors who teach future special education teachers, students who are

working towards their teaching certification in special education, and inclusion

classroom teachers working with children with special needs. NASET provides

practical information, useful resources, member benefits and an extensive special

education database.

The National Center for Learning Disabilities provides essential information to

parents, professionals and individuals with learning disabilities, promotes research

and programs to foster effective learning, and advocates for policies to protect and strengthen educational rights and opportunities.

 

National Institute for Literacy

The National Institute for Literacy provides leadership on literacy issues and serves

as a national resource on current, comprehensive literacy research, practice, and
