Diagnostic/Prescriptive Teaching
Maximize your students success by taking a diagnostic/prescriptive approach to
placement and to teaching students with language-based learning disabilities.
The first step in concluding what type of program or teaching method to prescribe is
to use evaluation techniques to determine a student's learning style and individual
strengths and weaknesses. Once a program has been established, diagnosing and
prescribing verifies which remedial approaches/strategies a student should be taught.
No one remedial approach is suitable for every student and the constant use
of diagnostic/prescriptive procedures must be in place to assure the on-going
appropriateness of program placement and teaching strategies.
