Virtual 1 Day Workshops

Tools and Activities to Enhance Classroom Instruction, Virtual – Summer Institute 2023

  • Delivery mode: Entirely virtual. There is no in-person component for the virtual courses.
  • Attendance: Live, on the date and time listed in the course information section. Please be prepared to be available for a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction for the entire duration of this course.
  • Platform: Zoom. You will need access to a reliable internet connection and computer with video and audio. Login credentials will be emailed prior to the course beginning.

Content is only as rich as the delivery method used to integrate it. When effective tools and strategies are implemented to make a lesson “jump off the page,” it can promote discovery, engagement, and much more. This virtual 1-day workshop will help educators to plan instruction through a progressive, structured approach that includes a healthy balance between routine and variety, as well as activities that focus on visual aesthetics. If those efforts can help students access all of their learning modalities with both paper materials and electronic resources, then other elements (behavior, participation, metacognition, etc.) can also fall into place to encourage students to be a part of the learning process.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Incorporate appropriate use of color, structure, and balance for both paper and electronic activities¬†
  • Determine how context and background information can lay the groundwork and promote more curiosity when new units are introduced
  • Establish a consistent structure that will assist with lesson planning¬†
  • Investigate and hopefully implement various apps within the Google Suite

This course is appropriate for educators who work at the middle and high school levels.

Materials will be provided electronically.
