COURSE DESCRIPTION

A student’s knowledge and understanding of content-related vocabulary play a crucial role in their ability to read and comprehend topics in content classes. This 1-hour webinar will provide a brief overview of the tiers of vocabulary. In addition, we will discuss specific activities, graphic organizers, and strategies that educators can utilize to introduce and develop content-specific vocabulary terms.

 

LEVEL

This webinar is appropriate for educators at the upper elementary and middle school levels.

About the Instructor

Deirdre Mulligan

Deirdre Mulligan has been at Landmark School since 1994. She holds a master’s degree in special education from Simmons College. Currently, Deirdre is the science and social studies assistant department head, faculty training coordinator and classroom teacher at Landmark’s Elementary Middle School campus in Manchester, MA. As assistant department head, she oversees the curriculum and classes in the elementary program. She teaches middle school math, language arts and science classes. In addition, Deirdre has presented several one and two day seminars related to study skill topics for the Landmark Outreach Program.
