Webinar Description
Our ability to speak and understand language is closely related to our ability to read and write. As such, it is likely unsurprising that disabilities of written language, such as dyslexia, often overlap with disabilities of spoken language. In fact, approximately half of individuals with dyslexia also present with developmental language disorder (DLD)–a disorder in which individuals struggle to use and/or comprehend spoken language.
Part 1 of this 2-part webinar series will provide a basic overview of the definition and characteristics of dyslexia and DLD. Participants will learn to identify ways that students with both DLD and dyslexia might struggle in lessons that target foundational reading and writing skills. Then, participants will explore instructional strategies to help these students participate successfully in and access these lesson activities.
