This 1-day workshop will provide educators with a brief overview of executive function and its importance for achieving academic proficiency. During the bulk of the workshop, educators will explore how the implementation of study skills instruction in the content area class can not only support students with executive function deficits, but benefit all students. A variety of strategies, tools, and resources will be shared to support students’ management of time and materials as they navigate the class day, complete homework, work on multi-day projects, and participate in group activities. During the workshop, time will be provided to select and adapt the strategies presented to each participant’s course content. The goal of this 1-day workshop is for teachers to leave with new tools for supporting students’ management of time and materials in any content area class.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify materials management and time management strategies that are relevant to their individual settings and students
  • Select and adapt strategies to be used in their own classrooms
